1. Competition and Being Number One- Uncovering The Algorithm, Keywords

By following these steps you will see that most closely guarded secret-- the search algorithm. Remember the movie "The Matrix?" The Matrix is there, you just can't see it. So is the search algorithm.

It's easy to pay a Search Engine Optimizer to give your pages some ranking power. Unfortunately, given the inherent time factor involved in climbing the ranks, your money may be long gone before you know if you've spent your money well.

THERE IS NO MAGIC PILL

Forget any advertisement you see for instant number one search results or automated this or that. Most are scams, and the ones that aren't might get you positioned, but it will be very short lived.

Search engine optimization is an ongoing process. Achieving and maintaining a high rank, especially on highly competitive keywords, requires constant maintenance. If you do find a legitimate SEO firm, it is well worth the money to pay their monthly maintenance fee and let them continue to help you after the initial project. At least for 6 months or a year as you establish yourself.

In this article we'll look at some of the intricate and complex tasks of optimizing a page for long term ranking power. You will learn how to read between the code and the content to find what is necessary to bring you to the top. Being number one is easy to say, but is quickly overwhelming when you stare at tens of thousands of pages you want to out rank. So how do you begin?

The starting line on the road to that first page SERP (search engine results page) ranking is not as blurry as you might think. In fact, you can uncover the starting line, the route, and all the scenery along the way to the finish line without knowing the search engine algorithm.

STEP 1- YOUR KEYWORDS ARE THE CROWNING ACHIEVEMENT OF GRUELLING DAYS OF WORK

If you have investments in the stock market you know how much research and thought goes into choosing those securities. Now take that same effort and multiply it by three. That's how much planning and revision your keywords should take.

A simple, broad key phrase like "shoes" could hypothetically bring you up in a countless stream of different searches. Women's shoes, baby shoes, sneakers, high heels, etc. If somehow you manage to settle into a good ranking (which would be difficult) you would have more traffic on your site than you could handle. But traffic is worthless is it doesn't get to it's destination. Chances are, you weren't that destination.

Your keywords must be focused and precise, specific to what you are selling. Using a key phrase like "Gucci mens black leather loafer" will bring a targeted lead to your site. You may not reach as many people as the more generalized keyword, but the people that do come to you have a much deeper interest in the specific product you are selling.

Therefore you have much greater chance of converting that targeted lead to a sale. Your keywords are your magic beans, your winning lotto numbers, your energizer bunnies, your sales force, whatever you want to call them. They must be perfect.

STEP 2- WANT TO BE NUMBER ONE? LOOK AT WHO ALREADY IS

Competition Analysis- no SEO book can give you this information.

Now take your keyword list and type them into a search engine. Who comes up in the first ten results? That company that is number one is because they have most closely matched what the search engine algorithm says should be number one. You can learn a great deal from them.

A. INTERNAL FACTORS

Take that number one page, and the other top 9 pages and study them, look at the code, break them down. You are looking at the first half of what is needed to rank in the top 10 pages for your key phrases on that particular search engine. The list of what to look for is enormous.

Studying the Internal Factors on a page is taking it apart to see how it's put together. Not how it works, but statistical research into the precise construct and layout of keywords and phrases in relation to each other within the page.

Start with these areas:

URL address, Page Title, Meta description, Meta Keywords, First sentence on the page, Body copy, Bold or Emphasized Phrases, H1 or other tags, Alt Tags, Navigation system

In each of those sections, look at:

Keyword densities- the number of times your phrase and each word in your phrase appears compared to the text around it

Where and in how many times the same phrase and words appear in different sections

The word and character position of each phrase in each

The total number of characters

The total number of words

The quality and thought of the content

Beginning with these comparisons should keep you quite busy for a while. A spreadsheet is quite useful. Some commercial products are also available that can make this daunting task much more feasible. Keep looking for other patterns and differences. You want to duplicate them in your own page. NOT copy and steal. You want to mimic the patterns that are bringing that page to the position it is. Then move onto to examining the external factors of these pages.

B. EXTERNAL FACTORS

External factors of a web page deal with the links to, from and within a web page, both inside the same site, and out into the web. This analysis usually takes more time because it involves more dissection of pages beyond the one you're trying to optimize.

In this analysis as with Internal Factors, you want to compare and contrast your page versus the top 10 competitors, find similarities and differences. Here is a list of criteria to get you started.

Number of internal (to the same site) on that page

Number of external links

Number of links pointing TO that page* (see below for details)

The link/anchor text- which keywords are used and where

Google Page Rank value of incoming links

Alexa Rank of incoming links

*To get a listing of the links that point to a site, type the following into Google, MSN and Yahoo searches: "link:www.domainname.com". Google tends to only show a small portion of the links back, but MSN and Yahoo will give you much more pertinent data.

Now you want to compare the content on each of these pages to the one they point to. Is it of similar theme, in what context does the link back appear and where. Subject of much debate, the consensus is that Google Page Rank does not mean what it used to. However, if it is in some fashion a measure of how significant or "important" a site is, it is worth looking more closely at the sites that link back that are of high page rank.

EVEN A SURGEON USES TOOLS

Now, this is definitely a ton of work to do all by hand. There are software programs that can help do some of the digging and mathematical computations for you, figuring out densities and organizing information.

Tools like this are definitely ones a professional SEO will have in their arsenal. But remember, these are tools, not miracle workers. It takes a human being to evaluate and realize connections, similarities, draw conclusions and interpret the data. Then, you have to extrapolate this data.

Remember, you want to do one better than every site you just examined. To do that you have to draw some conclusions and make some educated guesses and link to even better sites.

FINAL THOUGHTS

You have access to the inner workings of every page that you want to beat. Learn from them and do one better. This process is not a one-time shot. It is ongoing. Check your key phrases every week. Do the same people still rank in the top ten?

Some have probably moved. Remember too that they're going to adapt to maintain their positions too. If you want the ranks, you have to spend the time, and not just once, or pay someone to do it for you.

Don't ever believe anyone who says they can guarantee any kind of results. And ask them how they will optimize your pages. If they explain to you something like the above, then you've probably got yourself someone experienced and honest. You money will be well spent and you'll quickly recover it.

2. How To Use SEO And Blogging To Generate Traffic

If you have a website and market a product or service, or just want to get more traffic to your content site, then you have one thing in mind- traffic. One of the best ways to get traffic to your site is by using blogs to post articles related to your topic. This method is so effective because the big search engines out there love blogs because of their fresh and new content. The most important part about blogging to generate traffic is in optimizing the content of the blogs, a process that is easy to master and can prove very beneficial to your website.

The big search engines absolutely love blogs, especially WordPress. This particular service allows you to setup as many free blog sites as you want, and Google loves it. The search engines index blogs quickly and often and, if you choose to take the extra step in keyword optimizing the content on your blog, then you are going to attract a lot of attention. Make sure you always include a carefully crafted backlink to drive people to your actual sales or content page and you will begin receiving traffic in no time.

Blogging has many aspects that make it an effective marketing tool. Because the popular blog suppliers are so highly ranked themselves in the search engine page rankings, everything they are associated with (linked to) gets spidered and indexed as well. Also, the search engines love all of the new and fresh content that is circulated on such sites, causing them to hang around and spider and index their (your) blogs more often. In addition to sustained traffic generation, if you select your tags and popular keywords carefully, you may also see sudden urges of traffic. All of this traffic can then be directed to your sales or content sites, delivering you the success you want.

Blogs are very popular and easy to maintain, as the website portion is already taken care of and all you have to do is add useful content. Products such as Microsoft Office 2007 also make it easy to update blogs, as you can choose new blog post, type it up and, by adding your login info, it can seamlessly integrate your new content into the blog. This is pretty powerful stuff, considering the value of such sites. With blogs you can add posts as often as you like. Obviously, the more you post, the better for the site, but you can find your own friendly medium and watch the site grow.

Another great way to get attention to your blog is to post comments on other, related blogs. By posting on other niche blogs, you can include a signature file that links to your blog or main site. Once you have that down, the best way to create traffic through blogs is to have multiple blogs on different niches. Each site can be optimized for a different keyword, all pertaining to your main site or product. You can use each blog to promote for that keyword only and then find a way to funnel all traffic to your main site and product pages. This is the power behind blog marketing and can be very effective in creating the success you desire.

4. How do I drive traffic to a brand new website?

Every single day, more and more people upload brand new websites to the Internet. I don't have any figures but there must be hundreds of thousands of new pages being added daily (if not considerably more!)

The one thing that all of these new websites need in order to make their existence worthwhile is traffic, which leads me to one of the most common questions I am asked and the subject of this newsletter:

'How can you generate traffic to a brand new website?'

Of course, there are a number of different answers to this question and what I would do myself is probably very different to what a completely new Internet entrepreneur would do. The reason I say this is that the first thing I do when launching a new site is make use of my existing website traffic by advertising the new site on my other established sites. In addition, I have the luxury of a large mailing list which I can use to drive traffic to the new site.

I appreciate that anyone starting out in online business won't have these options open to them (and in fairness, neither did I when I first started), so let's look at things from the beginning. Day one of your first website.....

It is a fact that the quickest and probably most effective way of bringing targeted traffic to your website is by paying for it. Now before you rush off and sink $50 into one of those '50,000 hits for $50' schemes, DON'T, this isn't what I mean. Those schemes are largely a complete waste of money. Even if you get the traffic that you are promised (as opposed to some software script visiting your site and pretending to be a visitor), it will not be targeted and therefore there is a very low chance that the traffic will generate sales. When I talk about buying traffic, I mean by using the pay- per-click services offered by most of the big search engines.

You probably already know the sort of thing I mean - for example, Google Adwords. Pretty much any search on Google will display a list of adverts down the right-hand side of the page and these are all paid adverts. Every time you click on one of them, the advertiser pays Google a fixed amount which could be anything from 5 cents upwards (depending upon how competitive the keyword is).

Pay-per-click allows you to be very selective about which keywords your advert is shown for and this allows you to target your advertising perfectly. Other big names in the pay-per-click market include Overture, Espotting and Findwhat.

Now, before you all start emailing me and saying that you already knew about PPC let me just say that I am well aware that people know about it. The problem (as I see it), is that people aren't using this type of service because of the fact that they don't want to spend any money on advertising. That's all well and good but the fact is that the Internet is getting more and more competitive each day and the chances of you building a successful website business from scratch without investing any money are tiny to say the least.

If you want to attract a decent level of traffic to a brand new website in a short period of time, it is almost a necessity that you use pay-per-click on one of the main search engines. If you don't, then the growth of your traffic levels will be painfully slow and inconsistent at best.

When I launched my very first websites I invested heavily in pay-per-click advertising. At one point, I was spending over $6000 a month on Google Adwords alone!!! Seriously I really was spending that much money. It was a constant battle to tweak the website sales copy and continue to test the advertisement text just to make sure that my sales were covering the advertising payments each month. At the time I was probably just about breaking even but buying traffic in this quantity meant that I was able to fine-tune my sales pages and start to build up a list of mailing list subscribers.

Once you have got to the stage where you know your sales pages are converting visitors into buyers, then you can start to gear up with other methods of getting traffic to your site - writing articles, linking strategies, viral methods (eBooks etc), using your eBay 'About Me' page, using your link as a signature when you post on forums etc. All of these methods will win you traffic (and in most cases it will be completely free) but it will take time for the traffic to build to a worthwhile level. If you rely solely on free traffic, you really will be building your business one hit at a time.

Of course, once the free methods of gaining traffic start to pay off, you can begin to wind down your paid methods, though you may not want to - after all, if you are earning more in sales than you are paying for your pay-per-click traffic, why stop it?

As your portfolio of websites grows, you will also be able to share the traffic around a bit by linking to your own sites and of course, if you are capturing your visitors email addresses, you will be building a mailing list of people interested in the products you are offering.

Like I say, I appreciate that the above may not be the ground-breaking secret that you were hoping for but as with so many things online, there really is no secret. Achieving success is simply about taking action and whilst you can succeed online by spending very little money, the chances are that you will succeed a lot quicker by making a bit of an investment. You don't have to be spending thousands of dollars a month as I was but any new business owner should be prepared to invest a few hundred dollars a month in order to get things off the ground....

5. Breaking the Myth about Page Rank (PR)

The most difficult challenge most web designers face is getting traffic to your site. There are plenty of companies who promise to send traffic your way. Sadly, most of this traffic is not qualified. Yes, your hit counter will move higher, however, if it’s not qualified, you may find you have unhappy visitors to your site. Unhappy visitors will not click on your ads or purchase your products.

Once you have optimized your site, consider submitting it to every search engine. If you want to get spidered quicker in Google, have a web page with a PR of 4 or higher point to your site. Your site will be spidered within a couple of days!

One myth I would like to bust is that PR is a measure of a web site. Its not. I receive countless emails offering a reciprocal link with their PR5 or PR6 site. Unless my link is appearing on the main page, or a page that has PR6, I am not getting a share of PR6. Most likely, my link will appear on a page that has a PR2!

Page rank is Google's ranking of that specific page's relevance. Just because the main page has a PR of 4, does not make every page on the site a PR4. Beware of sites who claim that they will exchange links with you and it’s to your benefit since they have a PR5 or PR6. Where is your link appearing? If it’s on a page that has a PR of 4 or 5 or 6, great!

Reciprocal linking, if done properly, will ensure that your keywords are at the top of the search engine. If you have a popular keyword, you all need to have more back links. Pick your link partners properly, and ensure that they are linking to your keyword.

For example: if your site is www.joesdinner.com, consider sending out requests to relevant higher ranking pages to start with, followed by lower ranking pages and ask web designers to link back in a manner so that your url is a hyperlink for your keyword, not your site url or site name.

Presuming their keyword is "best dining in newyork", having links pointing to your site with an anchor tag incorporating your keywords will improve your search engine rankings dramatically.

Once you have established a collection of sites pointing to your site using your keywords, you will start receiving reciprocal link exchanges from other sites. This is where you can start to be particular.

If you want to maintain an effective PR and attract better sites for linking, follow these tips:

a) Is it indexed?
While their site may be indexed, the page where they are placing your link, is it at least indexed by Google? If you type in allinurl:www.sitename.com/links/right_here.html and there are no results, consider declining their offer. If the page your link appears on has not been indexed, there is no benefit whatsoever to you. If your pages have PR, they may consider placing your link on another page. If the page your link appears on is indexed, but does not have PR, consider accepting their offer. While the page today may not have PR, it will in time.

b) How many neighbors?
The value of the page rank is shared with each of the links on that page. If you are splitting that PR with several other sites, your share of PR will be small, which doesnt help you. Reconsider accepting any link exchanges if your site is 1 of more than 30 - 40 sites that will appear on that page, unless its a very high PR. Further, if there are too many links on that page, Google may consider the page to be part of a link farm, which may end up penalizing your site.

c) Is it relevant?
Google is big on relevancy. Ensure your links pages are relevant. If you operate a site about golf, having links from cooking sites will not help you establish your page rank. It may cost you more than you get in return.

How to Find Good PR sites:

a) Do a search for them by typing in your keyword and start asking for reciprocal link exchanges. Take a look at their PR and go from there. Remember, its the number of sites that backline to you that matters, not strictly the PR of the page. I would rather have 50 pages that have a PR1 pointing to my site, than to have 5 sites that have a PR5. Of course, if you can get 50 pages that have a PR5 pointing to your site, you are laughing!

b) Take a look at your existing link partners and check out their links pages. Its clear the people appearing on those links pages are interested in reciprocating.

c) Purchase software that will help finds quality link partners.

It is important to attract higher PR sites when you are on a reciprocal link campaign. However, it’s not the most important thing when it comes to search engine rankings. Its the back links that point back at you that are key. The more of those, the better off you will be for your keyword.

Remember: every page starts off as a PR0. Just because it’s new doesn’t mean it won’t get a higher PR once Google gets around to assessing a score. If the page your site appears on is indexed, and its a relevant site of quality, consider exchanging links. You'll grow a large list of link partners in a short period of time, and increase your search engine rankings in the process.

6. 2. Super-Affiliate's! What Are They... How Do I Find Them and Why They're Your
Super-Affiliate's! What Are They... How Do I Find Them and Why They're Your... TICKET to Success!

Super-Affiliate's!

What are they?

Do you see this term often online and end up confused to what it means and the purpose they serve online?

It sounded really mysterious to me when I first came across the term which peeked my curiosity and led me to research the term further to find out exactly what the term meant and more importantly what there roll was in the Internet marketing world.

The information I discovered was Astonishing!

What I'm about to reveal to you in this article will blow your mind and hopefully take away the mystery and answer the questions you once had about what a 'Super-Affiliate' is and why they ARE your...

..."Ticket To Online Success!"

Let's first take away the mystery behind what a 'Super-Affiliate' is so that you'll have a clear picture inside your head of how they'll benefit your online business for years to come.

A 'Super-Affiliate' is simply either or both a High Traffic website and/or a eZine/Newsletter owner with a HUGE targeted opt-in mailing list that are able to sell more in a given day then you could in a month.

As you will learn, the internet is nothing more than a numbers game and the super-affiliate's are simply the ones who have already put in the time and have the highest numbers when it comes to 'Website Traffic' and targeted 'Opt-In' mailing lists.

Are you starting to see the BIG picture yet?

Now, let's move on and break this down a little with some rough numbers so you'll be able to have better idea of what to look for when it comes to locating an 'Super-Affiliate' via search engines and/or eZine/Newsletter directories.

Let's first start with the Search Engines.

When you're searching the web for super-affiliate's with high traffic website's this is the general guide line I use to gauge their importance.

But, in order for me to do a proper traffic analysis of their website I need to use a special webmaster toolbar offered through Alexa.com.

This toolbar is essential and a must have when it comes to locating super-affiliate's and the reason why is because it reveals the 'Traffic Ranking' for that particular website you are viewing making it easier for you to tell the difference between the super-affiliate's and the other website's that are just getting by.

Here's the link to where you can download your own free Alexa toolbar if you choose:

Now... for the numbers.

When I'm searching for an super-affiliate related to my Product, Service and/or any of the affiliate programs I am promoting via the search engines and I happen to come across a website that has a traffic ranking of 50,000 or lower using the Alexa toolbar to gauge the TR then these are the website's where the super-affiliate's reside and are the ones I will want to contact with a business proposition.

As a general rule using website analysis, the lower the TR, the BETTER.

Why?

Because it means that particular website is receiving Lots... and Lots of traffic which is just what you're looking for.

Now... that's the general idea behind locating super-affiliate's through website analysis and the search engines.

This next part I'm going to show you where to locate the super-affiliate's with HUGE targeted mailing lists.

This is where you stand to benefit the most and could in turn make a substantial amount of money within the next 24 hours of your business proposition if accepted by the list owner.

The best places to locate an 'Super-Affiliate' with a HUGE mailing list are through eZine/Newsletter directories. I've listed a few of the Top directories below to save you the hassle of having to search for them yourself.

- Ezine Universe
http://www.ezine-universe.com

- Ezine Hub
http://www.ezinehub.com

- Go-Ezines
http://www.go-ezines.com

- Netter Web
http://www.netterweb.com

- Ezine Search
http://www.ezinesearch.com

These directories databases are searchable and are full of thousands of ezine/newsletters with list sizes that range from 1000 subscribers to 250,000 subscribers and up.

It's pretty easy to figure out who the super-affiliate's are going to be here.

The Bigger the list size, the BETTER.

But... as a general rule I would have to say that any ezine/newsletter owner with a list size of 75,000 or more subscribers I would consider an 'Super-Affiliate'.

Remember, this is just a general guide line.

Don't discard the list owners with smaller lists. The more eZine/Newsletter owners you contact the greater your chances are of SUCCESS!

Now that you know what a super-affiliate is and how to find them Both on the Web and through ezine/newsletter directories your probably wondering how...

... "They're Your TICKET To Online Success!"

Well, it's actually quite simple.

If you own your own Product and/or offer a Service, and this will even work if your an affiliate to someone else's program, all you have to do is simply locate and approach related website and/or ezine/newsletter owners with a JV(Joint Venture) and/or business proposition offering them a reasonable share(percentage) of the profits if they were to accept your business proposal.

That's It!

And the best part about this approach is that you don't even have to spend a penny on advertising and the traffic you'll receive will be 'Laser Targeted' making your chances of SUCCESS that much Greater.

I really hope this article opened your eye's up and cleared up any unanswered questions you once had about what a 'Super-Affiliate' was, what there roll is in the Internet marketing world and more importantly... How you can locate them via the Web.

Website construction is a very important job that demands understanding of the human psychology and knowledge about the needs and demands of the target audience of the website that s/he is designing. The designer, in charge of website construction must have a clear idea about the various requirements of a website like search engine optimization, directories, and various links that are relevant to the contents of the website. S/he must know all the elements that are relevant for driving the visitors to the concerned website. If you are handling a website construction, make sure that the bounce rate of the website is low. The number of visitors bouncing to another website leaving yours determines bounce rate.

There are certain sure tips for attracting the viewers to the concerned site. If the site is accurate enough, then the viewers may even bookmark the site for further visits. Let us discuss some of the most relevant tips for attracting the visitors to your site.

• Make the pages interesting to the readers and mark the pages as interesting and important. Make the contents of the website relevant and urgent so that the attraction of the readers is drawn towards your website. Teach the visitors about the concerned topics that your website deals with.
• Try keeping new inputs on a regular basis. Update your website on a daily basis if possible. Fill up the missing places with new articles and blogs. Add more number of articles of immense interest to the general visitors and keep the website page fresh and lively. Visitors are often bored with the same articles on the web pages and thus bounce to different websites, which is utterly undesirable for the visitors.

There are various ways to keep the websites interesting like daily addition of blogs to the website. Remember that the blogs are a great way to add user generated content. This in turn helps the formation of new communities for interpersonal communication between the visitors themselves so that you are successful in building up a dedicated group of visitors for your site.

For a good website construction, try to keep the navigation tabs simple and easy to click on. Provide the required elements for the website construction like the site map, various product pictures, product descriptions and benefits etc. One of the basic techniques for increasing the interest of the visitors to the website is by involving the visitors to the various programs and topics of discussions. The website construction expert can do this by asking the visitors for relevant feedback about the products featured in the website and by encouraging the visitors for reviews about the website and the various products featured in it.

The most important aspect of the website construction is the creation of the visitor trust. It is very important for keeping a sustainable visitor population to your website. In addition to keeping the web pages light and easily understandable, the website should also make sure that the website should be neat and tidy with separate sales content and separate informational content.

Do a relevant study of the target reader’s needs and put the stuffs that the readers find appealing. This is the secret behind a good website construction. Hope you find these working for you as well.

8. Key Elements to Optimize your Site

Search engine optimization is the process of getting your site to rank as high as possible for the keyword phrases most relevant to your business. Let me explain briefly the best way for your blog or website gain more ranks in every search engine there is. This will help us understand more about search engine optimization or much known as SEO for all.

Before beginning a search engine optimization (SEO) project, it is important to understand the process involved in an effective SEO campaign. To that end, I have highlighted the five-step process and described the activities involved in each of these steps.

1. Base Line Reporting: The first step in any effective SEO campaign is understanding what the current site's starting position is within the search engines. Doing so ensures that you know the specific areas that need work and provides a baseline against which to gauge the subsequent campaign's success. We would use a program like WebPosition to analyze the site's starting position. In addition, access to site traffic information is very important. We will analyze the current site traffic information that might be available to attempt to discover which search engines and what keyword phrases are being used.

2. Keyword Research: We propose to meet with you and identify a group of 10-12 keyword phrases that will be used in this search engine optimization. This step is critical and requires a considerable amount of time to find a good set of phrases that offer a balanced combination of two important factors: high usage by searchers and relatively low competition within the search engines.

3. Page Optimization and Content Development: Page optimization and content development are critical to search engine success. Content is king in search engine optimization. The search engines love text; high volume, high-quality content related to your business will serve you in a couple of important ways. First, a site loaded with high-quality content of interest to site users will give them a reason to stay and a reason to come back. After all, the reason they came to your site was to find information. Second, you will receive the added benefit of serving up exactly what the search engines want - content. Search engines will have more information to store about your business and products; that information will translate directly into the ranking they give your site for related keyword phrases.

4. Submission: The submission process involves manually submitting your site to a few select web sites (Yahoo and Google, for example) and also placing a link to the site on other sites that the search engines like Google visit regularly. When the search engine visits these other sites, it would grab your site link in the process. A higher value is placed on that link than on a manual submission done by the site owner.

5. Follow Up Reporting and Analysis: The same reporting done in the first step is done again at 1 month, 3 months and 4 months intervals, post-optimization. Rankings and site traffic can then be compared to pre-optimization levels, giving measurable results to the SEO campaign.

9. How to Drive a Stampede of Laser Targeted Traffic Using Postcards

How would you like to make $4 for EVERY visitor who hits your site? How about $8? Would you be interested?

This kind of money sounds insane doesn’t it, especially when you consider that most websites are lucky if they can make a $1 out of a visitor. And the chances are that you would label me a liar and a scam artist for even making such an outrageous claim.

Well those figures come from my own marketing

“How did I do it?” you ask.

The answer is very simple. I used good old fashioned direct mail, and more specifically I sent out postcards to lists of buyers, people who have previously bought a product similar to what I was offering. Direct mail golden rule #1… Never, ever rent names of enquirers. That’s suicide, because they are unqualified and generally tyre-kickers.

So as the cost of pay per click marketing goes up, and joint ventures become harder and harder to get, and the free traffic generating methods start dying, and all those gateway page generation software tools keep getting your site banned from the search engines. With banner impressions sending you trickle traffic, and more and more emails never arrive because of the spam filters, it’s time to look at direct mail.

And yes of course it’s going to cost you money to send a mail shot. But if you’ve tweaked and tested your website to convert the maximum amount of visitors, if you have setup up your automated backend sales process. Believe me; direct mail is one of the best ways of driving laser targeted visitors to your site, people who already have a proven track record of BUYING products similar to what you offer. Yes I’ve repeated myself, but I want you to “get” that little piece of advice.

So as your email open rates dwindle to dust, and you find it harder and harder to generate quality website traffic. Remember the lowly postcard, because it’s what the big guys are using to make obscene amounts of cash from their websites.

10. The Five Steps of E-Commerce

You set up a retail business, you advertise in your local newspaper, you get customers coming into your store, and you receive payment at the cash register. Create an online store, and...How do you get customers? How do you receive payment? The concept is the same, but the steps are different.

Step 1: Create your website

If you don’t have web design skills, you can hire a qualified web designer to create a website for you, or you can use an online site builder. Think of it as hiring an architect and an interior decorator compared to setting up shop in an existing store.

Using a web designer

With the services of a web designer, you can have a unique website template and website customized to your specific needs. A web development team can also add features such as Flash headers or any programming needed for your site. If your company image is critical, a custom-designed site that conveys the right professional image is a must.

Using an online site builder

An online site builder is the budget way to go. With site builder programs such as Site Studio, your website can be online within minutes. A step-by-step menu allows you to choose a layout and colors, and then add a site description, a logo, and content. Your template may not be unique, but your content will.

Step 2: Set up an e-commerce store

Your customers will browse at your website, select some items, and then pay for them. When you set up an e-commerce shopping cart, you’re providing a way for your customers to bring their purchases to the cash register. The program you choose will allow you to enter your products in the database and allow shoppers to choose products when they click on “Add to cart” or something similar.

Two well-known shopping carts, osCommerce and Miva Merchant, both allow you to do these tasks:

Add, edit, and delete product categories and other information

Set tax rates and charge tax

Receive payment via numerous online and offline payment processing methods

Bill customers

And much more

osCommerce

osCommerce is an open source program. Store owners can set up their online stores using osCommerce with no costs involved. For small stores, it has all the features you need for an online store. Drawbacks of osCommerce are that customization is not easy, and online stores using osCommerce tend to look similar.

Miva Merchant

While Miva Merchant carries a price tag of $995; some web hosts offer Miva Merchant licenses with their hosting plans. If you choose Miva as your shopping cart, be sure to host your site with a host that provides Miva support. Its learning curve is steep, and it requires the support of people who know how to work with it.

With the price and the steep learning curve, you get more features, and you can customize the program more. Add-in modules can be bought that perform a number of tasks. In addition, a strong support community is available in the Miva user group forums.

Step 3: Get a merchant account and payment gateway

When customers arrive at the checkout counter; you need a way for their payments to be transferred from their credit card accounts to your bank account. The method you choose may depend on your sales volume.

For high-volume sales, an e-commerce merchant account plus a payment gateway will meet your needs. A merchant account provider authorizes the transfer of payments to your account, and a payment gateway transfers the information from your customers’ financial institutions to yours.

Most merchant accounts have setup fees, transaction fees, monthly fees, and statement fees. The transaction fees are less than what you’d pay using a third party credit card processor such as PayPal. With all the fees, however, the overall cost is typically lower only if your monthly sales volume is over about a thousand dollars.

For medium and low volume sales, Pay Quake and PayPal are viable options.

Pay Quake

Pay Quake offers three merchant account types to choose from. Although they all require payment gateways, the two smaller plans have no monthly minimums. You can upgrade to a higher or lower plan if your needs change.

PayPal

PayPal has become a household name. Customers can send payment through PayPal via credit card or via money that they transfer into their PayPal account. While the fees per transaction are higher than with merchant accounts, there is no setup or monthly fees, and you don’t need a payment gateway. You pay only when you have financial transactions.

Fore more details about these options see WebSite Source Hosting Solutions: E-Commerce.

Step 4: Create a secure payment environment

A Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) certificate enables you to receive credit card information securely from your customers. When a payment page is using SSL data to encrypt data, a small image of a lock appears at the bottom right of the screen.

Some web hosts offer SSL certificates as part of their hosting packages. If your web host package doesn’t include SSL certificates, you can purchase one separately.

With PayPal, no SSL certificate is required.

Step 5: Generate traffic

Your products are on display in your newly designed store, your shopping cart is set up and ready to use, and you have everything in place to be able to receive payments securely. Now all you need are customers.

This is where marketing comes in.

Submit your site to search engines.

Advertise your site.

Keep your company name in front of your customers with a regular email newsletter.

Add more content to your website to keep it fresh.

Monitor your website traffic to see where it’s coming from and how you can increase traffic for key content areas.

11. TRAFFIC GENERATION ~ The Number One Skill That Will Generate Cash Flow.
If you're feeling a bit of confusion and frustration about how to get visitors to your website and generate more sales, I know exactly how you feel. I felt the same way until I stopped listening to every "big time" marketer that came along with the latest traffic generating trick. You've got dozens of gurus vying for your attention and every one of them has the solution to all of your problems. Right? The proliferation of messages that promise a traffic explosion using new techniques can become overwhelming. Time out. Take a deep breath. Sit back in your chair. Relax. Now, if you will focus your energy on a very short list of traffic generation strategies that actually DO work, and commit to continually improving your skills in these few areas, you will be amazed at what you can achieve... WILL achieve. In part 1 of this article series, we discussed the fact that... There are only 3 ways to get traffic to your website: 1) Buy it. 2) Borrow it. 3) Steal it. Since 3 is not an option we're going to consider, that leaves us with "buy it" and "borrow it". We also talked about the "Holy Grail" of web traffic. What is it? FREE TRAFFIC! I want it. You want it. Every disillusioned internet marketer wants it. Here's the truth... It's a myth. It doesn't exist. There is no such thing as free website traffic. We'll resume our discussion where we left off... In parts 1 and 2 of this series we discussed what your first two priorities should be for buying website traffic (PPC search engines and ezine advertising). Next, let's talk about borrowing traffic. There are 2 traffic borrowing strategies that we'll talk about here. 1) Search engines. 2) Writing and submitting articles. There's no disguising the fact that the print books, eBooks and reports written on these two strategies number in the hundreds and even thousands. Therefore, I'll make no attempt to provide comprehensive treatment on either of them. However, they're both important and worthy of at least a primer. So, let's start with search engines. If you want to make money with your website today, this week or this year, what is the absolute worst investment of your time? Search engine optimization. I know that some marketers don't want to hear this, but it's a fact for some of the reasons stated above and plenty of others. The mathematical (imp)probabilities of achieving a top ranking for a search phrase that will result in meaningful traffic that includes buyers is… let's just say the odds aren't in your favor. There are strategies that work with search engines to drive traffic to websites, but one thing they absolutely do not include is any attempt to optimize a sales page or for that matter an entire website that's designed to convert visitors into customers. The strategies that work with search engines offer them what they crave most, which is content. Perhaps in the future we can discuss this in some detail. The next big time waster that's closely related to search engine optimization is submitting your website to the search engines. If your site won't be listed in the top 2, 3 or 4 pages of a search engine, nobody's going to see it anyways. This debate rages back and forth even with SEO experts who make their full time living doing nothing but consulting on SEO. Submit? Don't submit? Following is an excerpt from Jill Whalen's High Ranking ezine. Jill does this stuff full time and she's well respected. I'm including this because it's enlightening. Here we go... *** BEGIN EXCERPT *** READER QUESTION: Is manually submitting each site better? JW: You don't actually need to submit your site at all to search engines -- neither manually nor in an automated fashion. They all have spiders that "crawl" the Web and find all pages that exist, as long as there is a link to them from a page they already know about. READER QUESTION: Once submitted ...do you keep submitting ...if so how often? (So you don't get kicked out.) JW: Never. READER QUESTION: The Microsoft submits supposedly submits to hundreds of search engines and directories JW: It's a waste of time and bandwidth. READER QUESTION: Is this good or bad (the number of SE's submitted to) JW: It's neither, just useless. READER QUESTION: I heard the more the better ...but there are some pretty cheesy search engines out there JW: "The more the better" is incorrect. There are only 4 major search databases that matter: Google, Yahoo, MSN, and Ask Jeeves. Their databases power all of the other engines that make a difference. *** END EXCERPT *** Interesting, huh? So, let's move on. Writing and Submitting Articles: I KNOW that there are talented writers online who have not capitalized on their writing skills yet. If you're in this group, you need to write and submit articles. IF YOU'RE NOT IN THIS GROUP, you need to write and submit articles. You see, nobody is out there grading you. Google does not moralize over your ability (or lack thereof) to write a coherent article. Google will, however, spider the links back to your IBSoftShop if you include it in your article's resource box. The more you do this, the better you'll get. Writing and submitting articles is a long term approach to generating traffic that you should start right now. Set time aside weekly to consistently get your name and your site's URL out there in various article directories. Can you spare one hour a week? If yes, do this. I just published an article on this topic titled "How to Vote for Your 0wn Website in the Search Engines." You can read it here: http://www.gothrive.com/articles/vote-for-your-own-website.html Next, can I save you some time? Here's a short list of activities and "programs" that will consume your time with very little if any result: - Start Page Networks - Exit Traffic Exchanges - Safe lists - FFA Pages - Lurking in Forums There are others too, but who really benefits from a start page network, exit traffic exchange, safe list or FFA page? The person who owns and runs it. They benefit because they get to market to you and you get to market to other people who want nothing other than free traffic. Remember free traffic? Forget it. You could spend the next year whiling away the hours on free traffic schemes or you could find PPC traffic that will turn your $10 investment into $49.85 in profit and then duplicate this success 10 times, 50 times or 100 times. Which will you choose? 12. Need A Website? You Have 3 Options.
When it comes to building a website, most individuals and small business owners think you either have to do it yourself or hire someone to do it. Web builder software is often the better option for this group by far. Even if you're a seasoned web professional, you should know what web builder software can offer private individuals and small businesses. Designers regularly waste time fielding inquiries from small-time website owners who don't realize the time, effort, and therefore cost involved in making a website from scratch. Or your brain may be picked endlessly by a would-be developer. Recommending a good web builder program is a great way to help this group--you can even monetize these non-prospects by reselling web builder software or referring it as an affiliate. The 3 Web Design Options DIY (design it yourself), usually using software such as Dreamweaver or FrontPage. Pay someone else to design it. Use a "website builder" that includes everything you need and builds the website based on a setup wizard that asks questions about your website goals. Most people just stumble into one of these three options without really comparing. In fact, if someone is even considering whether to try to do it themselves, hire a pro, or use a website builder program, it's extremely likely they really do need to start with a website builder program. After all, with the small investment required by web builder software, you can easily decide to go the DIY or professional design route later. But the money and time spent on professional services or DIY cannot be un-spent. If you don't have the web design skills that would lead you to make your own website without questioning, or the budget to hire a designer just as easily, your time, money and other resources are probably better spent on other aspects of your website--such as promoting it, planning it, or getting content for it. Website Options Comparison: Cost : Cost of software (Dreamweaver, the most popular, runs about $300) + many hours of your life--what is your time worth? Web Designer: $500-$5000 Website Builder: $100-200 (if a software package); $15-40/month (if a subscription service) Time DIY: Depending on your skill level, a week to a few months. Web Designer: A few weeks till completion (but little time on your part). Website Builder: Five minutes to an hour (depending on how much you want to play with the options). Graphic Design: Most people who build their own websites use graphic design templates, or at least ready-made graphics. But there's still the problem of how to bring the elements of the design together into an attractive whole. Web Designer: If you want to be taken seriously, a graphic designer will go a long way. Still, many people manage to sabotage the designer's work with too many demands. Also, some designers are really programmers rather than graphic designers, and will use templates anyway. In the end, though, the biggest drawback is cost: graphic designers can do it better, but can you afford them? Website Builder: The advantage of a website builder over DIY templates is that the builder will save you the time of coding the website to stitch all the parts together. 13. Ways to popularize a website
Ways to increase the number of hits at your website Search engine submission, search engine registration, search engine optimization, affiliate program and Spin Success are probably the most important aspect of marketing a website. In today's fast moving world, your website does not stand anywhere if these techniques are not used to increase the number of visitors. The more you use it, the more famous your website will be. In doing so, you will be making your website search engine friendly. It means, more search engines will focus your website when the keywords related to your site are searched. Let us talk about search engines optimization first. It is the best techniques to increase the number of hits at your website. 14. The Perfect Ten Link - Search Engine Optimisation On Steroids
What is a quality incoming link? This article describes the key characteristics of a perfect link. For explanation purposes, the sample company is a shoe retailer called John's Sports, and the keyword phrase being optimized for is "red Reebok tennis shoes". Webmasters and search engine optimisation (SEO), practitioners appreciate that quality links from other web sites are one of the foundations to getting found on the Internet. Without quality inbound links, it is highly unlikely a web page will appear at the top of the search engine results pages, except for obscure terms that nobody actually searches on. The other advantage of getting links is particualrly relevant to new sites. Links on mature sites that link to new sites will mean that the new sites will get spidered and indexed faster than manual site submission. Without links it can take as long as six months to get indexed, with links it can take as little as a few days. Key word phrase in anchor text Unless you put your keyword phrase in the anchor text (the text that describes the web site being linked to), you are wasting a lot of link power. Unfortunately a lot of people don't know this an end up putting their company name in the link text rather than the keyword phrase that they want their company to be found by. Much better that they link anchor says "red Reebok tennis shoes" than "John's Sports Store". The link is from a relevant page Google, and the Google-powered search partners, seek relevance in the interconnectedness of web pages. Incoming links should be from pages where the content on that page is related to the content of the page that is being linked to. A fishing related page linking to a casino site is an example of a non-related link. A jogging related page linking to a red Reebok tennis shoes product page is related and is looked upon favourably by the search engines. The link goes to a relevant page Another mistake that people make is always linking to the home page rather than to the most relevant page to the anchor text. If the link anchor text is "red Reebok tennis shoes" then the link should go to a page about red Reebok tennis shoes, not the home page. This is by far and away the most common linking mistake. The link is from a site with authority and credibility Links from sites with good Google Page Rank are worth more, a lot more, than links from other sites. It's all about credibility. A link from a trusted site tells the search engines that the sites linked to are also trusted - it's a vote of confidence from a credible source. This is why companies pay celebrities millions of dollars for product endorsements. The celebrities seem to be a trusted source. Links from .gov, and .edu sites are also reported as having more weight than standard links. They are also more difficult to get which adds to their perceived quality. The link is at top of the page Links from the top of a page (except for the header advertising zone), are said to have more weight than links at the bottom of pages. It's the same with keyword phrases. A keyword phrase in the heading of a paragraph is worth more than in the body text. The link is one-way, not two-way Google's pspecial algorithm looks for link exchanges between sites and rates these links lower than straight one-way links. If possible, look for one way links by creating link bait - compelling content that will encourage people to link to your pages. Link bait can include cool online tools, funny videos, jokes, how-to guides and fact sheets. The link is within the body of the page - not an advertising area Linking should be a natural part of the body copy. Recent reports suggest that the search engines will discount links from parts of the page that are traditionally sold for advertising. These tend to be the margins, header and footer areas of the page. The link does not have a nofollow tag The nofollow tag is a recent innovation that tells the search engines that although I am linking to this other page, I do not vouch for the page's integrity. In short, the nofollow tag tells the search engines to ignore the link. Obviously you do not want links to your web pages to have nofollow tags. Be careful with link exchanges. Some dishonest people will exchange links with you, but use nofollow tags in the links to your pages to preserve their own link power. There are few links on page (less than 20) One link to your web site from a page with hundreds of links does little for your SEO results. The page's SEO power is being distributed over all the other links on the page. Goole's guidelines recommend no more than 100 links per page, but I believe 20 is a reasonable goal. You never know when the Google algorithm may change. The perfect page that links to your pages should have no more than 20 links. 15. Important Tips for SEO
If someone is looking to get the name of your business, your web site or your product out big on the internet, someone is probably going to hook up with an Search Engine Optimization consultant, who can explain to someone about the ins and outs of search engine optimization, which can benefit someone business greatly. But perhaps someone isn’t really familiar with Search Engine Optimization and need to understand what it is. Basically, someone needs to understand that Search Engine Optimization is a strategy to market someone’s business that is friendly to the web sites out there that provide search. The higher someone is in the rankings, the more traffic will come someone’s way. Here are the basic steps someone needs to take in conjunction with someone’s Internet marketing consultant. • First, someone and someone’s Search Engine Optimization consultant need to decide who someone want to reach as an audience. • Also, someone needs to make sure someone have quality control of all of someone’s content. • Focus on the content with someone’s Internet Marketing Consultant at all times. This is vital for the balance someone is looking for. Once someone has met those goals, someone needs to work someone’s way to the top of the internet food chain and get results. If someone’s Search Engine Optimization consultant is worth their pay, then they will always be looking out for someone’s business’s performance. One strategy they can do this is to invest (that means pay some money) for the technology that will help move someone’s web site to the top. That includes linking to other sites where someone can buy linking rights. But it needs to be a great one. Look for the same standard of quality that someone expects from someone’s own business. Someone’s SEO Consultant should also talk to someone about optimization and how someone needs to be search engine friendly and attractive to visitors. Look for the tools that will make this work for someone. And don’t be afraid to look for other ideas. You should see what other companies are doing to make the most of their Search Engine Optimization strategies. If someone is out there on the web talking about what’s new other companies will see someone as a leader. That builds interest in someone’s business, which may increase someone’s web presence because of news in someone’s industry and in the world of Search Engine Optimization marketing. Of course, the big fish someone is shooting for is Google. Check with someone’s Search Engine Optimization to see what their thoughts are about best working with Google, since it holds such a powerful piece of the market share. Is their a strategy to work someone’s way up their rankings besides these goals and ideas? With the changing nature of their algorithm, someone is going to have to keep up to date with everything that happens at the Googleplex. If someone does, it will pay off. And don’t forget Yahoo, Ask and MSN. You want to keep all of the possibilities in mind. Article Source: http://www.content.onlypunjab.com Matthew Law is author of this article on SEO Consultant. 16. Some Common Link Building Methods for SEO
One of the primary activities in SEO that will arguably have the most impact on your sites position in the search engine rankings is link building. A web pages position in the SERPS (Search Engine Results Pages) is largely dependent on the number and quality of other pages linking to the page. Here we present some of the more common link building techniques to increase your inbound links. 1. Directory submission: Link directories contain pages of categorized links. One method to obtain back links involves submitting your site to these link directories. Directories can be either paid, free or requiring a reciprocal link. The most well known directories include the Yahoo directory and dmoz. 2. Article Submission: Submission of articles to article directories is another common link building technique. At the bottom of an article you submit to an article directory is an author’s bio where you can include links to your site, as can be seen at the bottom of this article. One of the positive traits of this form of link building is that you can word your author bio as you want and therefore, have choice over the anchor text of the link. 3. Social Bookmark Submission: Social bookmark sites allow you to bookmark web pages online, and when you do a link is created to the page you bookmark. Submitting pages to social bookmark sites is another common method of link building. 4. Blog Posting.: Similar to article submission, you may be able to contact owners of blogs relating to your niche and provide them with quality content for them to post on their blog. In this content you may put a link back to your site. The key here is to provide quality content so that it is worthwhile for the owner of the blog to post your content. 5. Link Exchange: Some sites participate in link exchanges, where you link to a site in exchange for a link from their site. It is important in link exchange to exchange quality links in limited numbers. There is not a lot of value in much of the mass link exchange some sites engage in that have many pages of links devoted to their link exchanges. 6. Link Bait: This involves the writing of content, of posting of pictures or other interesting posts that other webmaster will find interesting and worth linking too. If the content is of high enough quality if may be featured on sites such as digg, potentially attracting a large number of organic links. So here we have presented a number of the more common link building techniques. There are many others and a good way to keep up with current link building trends is to become active on one of the many popular web master forums. The key is to try different methods and attempt to get a feel for which methods are more effective through monitoring your sites position in the SERPS. 17. Effective Web Promotion Tips
Having a Web site is great, but it is meaningless if nobody knows about it. Just like having a brilliantly designed product brochure does you little good if it sits in your sales manager’s desk drawer, a Web site does you little good if your target market isn’t visiting it. It is the goal of this book to help you take your Web site out of the desk drawer, into the spotlight, and into the hands of your target market. You will learn how to formulate an Internet marketing strategy in keeping with your objectives, your product or service, and your target market. 4 Step to promote your website Designing Your Site to Be Search Engine Friendly Creating a site that is search engine friendly should be an objective of every company that wants to do business on the Internet. Search engines are the most common way for Internet surfers to search for something on the Net. In fact, 85 percent of all people who use the Internet use search engines as their primary way to look for information. By using keywords relating to your company in appropriate places on your site, you can improve how search engines rank you. You want these chosen keywords in the keyword meta-tags as well as in each page’s description meta-tag. Some of the other places where you want to have these keywords are your domain name if possible, your page titles and page text, your Alt tags for graphics, and your page headers. Many search engines place a lot of emphasis on the number and quality of links to a site to determine its ranking. This means that the more Web sites you can get to link to your site, the higher your site is shown in search engine results. Search Engine and Directory Submissions There are billions of Web pages on the World Wide Web, so how can you increase your chances of being found? One method is submitting your Web site to the many search engines and directories. Once you’ve optimized your Web site to be search engine friendly, you are ready to face the challenge of submitting it to the most important search engines. By “search engines,” I’m referring to the combination of search engines, directories, spiders and crawlers. You need to be within the first two pages of search results to ensure your best possible success online. The E-mail Advantage E-mail is rapidly becoming one of the most crucial forms of communication you have with your clients, potential customers, suppliers, and colleagues. E-mail is now a widely accessible and generally accepted form of business communication. We are seeing a huge increase in commercial e-mail volume. The reason for this significant increase is understandable given that e-mail is a very cost-effective, time-efficient tool that has a high response rate. E-mail is used to build your community online, sell products and provide customer service, reinforce brand awareness, and encourage customer loyalty. Add Value with Affiliate Programs Another way of benefiting from links to your Web site is by developing an affiliate program. Affiliate programs (also called reseller or partnership or associate programs) are revenue-sharing arrangements set up by companies selling products and services. When another site agrees to participate in your affiliate program, it is rewarded for sending customers to your business. These customers are sent to your site through links on your associates’ or affiliates’ Web sites. By developing and offering this type of program, you generate increased business and increased links to your site and increased link popularity for search engines. 18. Newbies For SEO Content Distribution Linking
The new buzz on the internet is all about getting one-way links by distributing content to other sites in exchange for backlines. As with every other SEO or website promotion technique ever devised, there are plenty of newbie myths about it that can ruin your chance for success before you even start. Newbie Myth 1: The "Duplicate content penalty." Some webmasters worry that if the content on their sites is suddenly on hundreds of other sites, search engines will inflict a "duplicate content penalty." Why is this concern unjustified? * If this were true, every major newspaper and news portal website would now be de-indexed from the search engines, since they all carry "duplicate content" from the news wires such as Reuters and the Associated Press. * Thousands of self-promoting internet gurus has proven that distributing content is an effective method of improving search engine rank. * Even more thousands of content websites have proven that republishing this content does not carry any search engine penalty. True, the first website to publish an article often seems to be favored by search engines, ranking higher for the same content in searches than higher-Page Rank pages with the same content. But the "duplicate" pages do show up in the search engine results, even if lower than the original site. Meanwhile, the reprint content has no effect on the ranking of a site's other pages. The only duplicate content penalty is for duplication of content across pages of a single website. Meanwhile, there is a sort of "copyright theft" penalty, whereby someone who copies content without permission can be manually removed from search engine indexes out of respect for the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. But that penalty is only for flagrant theft, not minor mistakes in attributing reprint content. Newbie Myth 2: The goal is to get in article clearinghouse websites. There are over 100 popular, high-traffic websites that act as clearinghouses for content made available for redistribution. These websites include isnare.com, amazines.com, and goarticles.com. Many novice content-distributors are upset when the article clearinghouse websites, with tens of thousands of articles each with a backline, pass negligible Page Rank. But the point of distributing content to those websites is for other website owners to find your content and put it on their websites--not to get a backline directly from the clearinghouse website (though this is sometimes an unexpected bonus). Plus, to maximize Page Rank-passing links, you also have to submit articles to website owners individually. It's not a small amount of work. But there's no substitute for a polite, individually crafted email recommending a website owner complement his or her existing articles with one you've written. Myth 3: Any content will do. Reality: It should be obvious that many website owners, jealous of their link popularity, will only republish exceptionally high - quality content. For articles, this means a unique point of view and solid information that cannot be found just anywhere, ideally presented in compelling language in a web-optimized format by a professional published writer. You can conduct a content distribution campaign with bad content, but you'll be handicapping yourself from the start. Myth 4: Distributing content is easy. Just hit "send." Reality: Content distribution campaign requires skillful planning to target publisher websites effectively. This is essentially a four-step process. 1. You must identify the categories of websites most likely to republish your articles. These categories range from the very broad, such as internet, business, and family, and can go as narrow as family-friendly internet businesses. It's a careful balance: you need to make your target category narrowly relevant to maximize the value of the link and your chances of getting your article accepted for publication. But if you target too narrow a category, you'll lower the maximum number of links you can hope to get. For instance, a website on web content writing has to target its content distribution to more than just sites focusing on web content. There are only so many websites devoted to web content as a topic of interest, and besides, many such websites would be competitors. Distribution should target broadly relevant categories, such as web design, webmaster issues, writing, marketing, business, website promotion, and SEO. Yet some broadly related categories, such as internet or publishing, are not relevant enough to yield good results. 2. To maximize success, you must have articles custom-created for each major category you want to submit to. "Incorporating Content in Web Design" and "Marketing with Content" would be possible titles for a web content-writing website owner targeting web design and marketing websites, respectively. An article about web design won't appeal as strongly to marketers, or vice versa, so simply submitting to websites having to do with "the web" would not be as effective. 3. For maximum success, articles custom-written for a category then often have to be refined for sub-categories. For instance, "Incorporating Content in Web Design" becomes "Incorporating Content into Flash Web Design," or "Incorporating Content into Accessible Web Design." Sometimes the refinement is just a "find and replace" of one keyword for another, sometimes just in the title. Sometimes, entire paragraphs have to reworded or removed. 4. Once you've identified sub-categories of websites, you still have to be able to meet the requirements of individual websites. Some sites only publish articles up to 500 words, some only do how-to articles. Owners of high-ranking websites can afford to be choosey. To really maximize results within a sub-category, you need at least three different articles of varying lengths and focus specifically geared toward that sub-category. In the end, distributing content for website promotion and inbound links is a marvelously effective way of promoting a website. But it's not magic beans. Like anything else having to do with achieving success on the web, it takes hard work and knowledge to be successful Article Source: http://www.content.onlypunjab.com About the author: Did you find this article useful? By following these steps you will see that most closely guarded secret-- the search algorithm. Remember the movie "The Matrix?" The Matrix is there, you just can't see it. So is the search algorithm. It's easy to pay a Search Engine Optimizer to give your pages some ranking power. Unfortunately, given the inherent time factor involved in climbing the ranks, your money may be long gone before you know if you've spent your money well. THERE IS NO MAGIC PILL Forget any advertisement you see for instant number one search results or automated this or that. STEP 1- YOUR KEYWORDS ARE THE CROWNING ACHIEVEMENT OF GRUELLING DAYS OF WORK If you have investments in the stock market you know how much research and thought goes into choosing those securities. LOOK AT WHO ALREADY IS Competition Analysis- no SEO book can give you this information. Now take your keyword list and type them into a search engine. Who comes up in the first ten results? That company that is number one is because they have most closely matched what the search engine algorithm says should be number one. You can learn a great deal from them. A. INTERNAL FACTORS Take that number one page, and the other top 9 pages and study them, look at the code, break them down. Start with these areas: URL address, Page Title, Meta description, Meta Keywords, First sentence on the page, Body copy, Bold or Emphasized Phrases, H1 or other tags, Alt Tags, Navigation system In each of those sections, look at: Keyword densities- the number of times your phrase and each word in your phrase appears compared to the text around it Where and in how many times the same phrase and words appear in different sections The word and character position of each phrase in each The total number of characters The total number of words The quality and thought of the content Beginning with these comparisons should keep you quite busy for a while. B. EXTERNAL FACTORS External factors of a web page deal with the links to, from and within a web page, both inside the same site, and out into the web. This analysis usually takes more time because it involves more dissection of pages beyond the one you're trying to optimize. In this analysis as with Internal Factors, you want to compare and contrast your page versus the top 10 competitors, find similarities and differences. Here is a list of criteria to get you started. Number of internal (to the same site) on that page Number of external links Number of links pointing TO that page* (see below for details) The link/anchor text- which keywords are used and where Google Page Rank value of incoming links Alexa Rank of incoming links *To get a listing of the links that point to a site, type the following into Google, MSN and Yahoo searches: "link:www.domainname.com". EVEN A SURGEON USES TOOLS Now, this is definitely a ton of work to do all by hand. FINAL THOUGHTS You have access to the inner workings of every page that you want to beat. Article Source: http://www.content.onlypunjab.com About the author: Did you find this article useful? 20. Leads thru Virtual Office
Leads thru Virtual Office
Website Promotion
----------------------------------------------------------
Work at home empowered by Veretekk website promotion suite of tools is what it takes to boost any homebased business to new heights.
--------------------------------------------------

Having a Virtual Office can generate leads to you through the funnel approach. If you don’t know what that is then you should come to the Virtual Office Seminars. This is one of the topics that will be covered in the Virtual Conference Room. Let’s talk about the Virtual Conference Seminar that is going to take place in March and continue monthly. These seminars are going to be launched and held for the simple reason that people need to have a place to go to get on-line education about how to start and run a successful home business.

The seminars are the brainchild of Dr. Raymond Jewell, Economic Advisor and Mr. Butch Hamilton, SEO Master. They both were expressing their concern about the many home business failures that are increasing on the internet. As the economy gets worse more people will attempt to start a home business to supplement their income. There will be more home business failures unless someone steps up and takes control of this environment. These seminars will address why many home business fail and what to look out for along with teaching you how to market on the internet. You will come away with knowledge about how to run a successful home business.

These seminars are held in our Virtual Conference Room which are like going to a conference except you are attending the seminar through your computer. You need nothing except a computer, speakers to hear the information, a microphone if you want to ask questions, or you can text the questions if you have them, and an open mind. This system is state of the art and is the real deal. You have the same capability’s you would have going to a live seminar in an auditorium.

We will also teach you how to create your own personal Virtual Office and teach you how to get leads for your business. Now let’s get back to the funnel approach to getting people to call you. It’s just like the description says, funnel approach. You create a system to move people through information to get to the end of result. You do this through the use of marketing tools that enable you to develop the funnel. This is one of the topics that is being taught in the Virtual Conference Room.

Let’s get the cost issue out of the way, the seminars are free. Yes there is no cost and in addition to being no cost there will be no selling just information being exchanged. It is our purpose to put information out to people in a non-threatening environment so that people will come and learn. Many wealthy people have expressed concern that the majority of people have very little financial education, which will cause people to fall prey to scams, and hucksters who will take their money. We want to make sure that when people decide to start their home business that they know how to do it and are equipped with the right education to do it.

In business and financial areas the majority of the public is uneducated therefore they start many things and fail. They put their hard earned money up because they think they know what they are doing then down the road when the money runs out everyone else benefited except the person taking the risk. This no longer has to happen. We will give you the education needed to start and run a home business and get the business into the internet ahead of the competition.

To sign up for the free seminar simply go to http://virtualovaloffice.com and fill out the request form. You will begin to receive emails from our autoresponder that will give you some simple instructions to follow in getting ready for our seminars. All you have to do is follow the directions and you will be directed to the Virtual Conference Room. We have put this information together to prepare you so when everyone gets to the conference they all have the same skills. Hope to see you at the seminar.
